My name is André Czernia, and I live in the Cologne area. Photography began as a pastime during my travels, but over the years it has grown into a passion that increasingly shapes how I see the world.
What fascinates me most are the marks of change: how time and use leave traces, how structures carry memory, and how transformation becomes visible in details that are often overlooked. I am drawn not to spectacle but to atmosphere, not to postcard views but to moments that quietly reveal what lies beneath the surface. My photographs move between street and stillness, between human presence and the structures we create. They are an attempt to balance observation with interpretation, to capture atmospheres that invite reflection rather than deliver easy answers.
I do not claim to have found a fixed path. I am still experimenting, learning, and developing ideas for future projects. Each new series is part of this process, and I value the openness that comes with being an ambitious amateur: the freedom to try, to fail, to discover.
I share this work here on my website and also on Instagram as @shutteronstreet - a reminder that my journey began with the street but now extends into landscapes, urban transitions, and the subtle connections between them. Through both channels, and in the future also through a blog and newsletter, I want to share not only images but also thoughts and experiences from this ongoing journey.
